Candidate for
US Representative; District 17; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate

Economic: Economic problems must be addressed in the following way:
1. Balance the federal budget. No more deficits.
2. Spend responsibly. No more buy outs, bailouts or earmarks.
3. Generate jobs by giving permanent tax cuts, especially to small business. No tax increases of any kind.
4. Revisit International trade agreements. Make them work to produce U.S. jobs and expand our economy.
5. Overhaul the tax code. I favor the Fair Tax. Eliminate the IRS.
6. Restore government to its constitutionally limited functions
7. Face the reality of dimishing entitlements until they are finally under control and eventually privitized.
8. Establish a long term realistic plan for eliminating the national debt.

National Defense: We need a genuine defense policy and strategy.
1. Strengthen our intelligence services and defenses against domestic and foreign terrorists.
2. Maintain Gitmo where enemy combatants can be held until the war is over.
3. Develop and deploy a missile defense system.
4. Modernize our nuclear weapons system. Peace comes via strength.
5. Modernize our conventional weapons systems.
6. Appropriate necessary personnel and weaponry to finish the task in Afghanistan.
7. Conclude operations in Iraq as soon as possible.
8. Toughen sanctions against Iran and N. Korea; encourage freedom fighters as much as possible. No nuclear weaponry can be allowed in these countries.
9. Affirm and strengthen alliances with friends like Israel.
10. Secure our borders and establish a plan to deport those who are here illegally.
11. Provide all needed care - physically, psychologically and practically for returning war veterans.
12. Use the UN for our purposes or get out of it.
13. We must become energy independent via nuclear power, clean coal, oil, natural gas as well as solar, wind, etc. Energy is a national security issue.

Social and Domestic issues: Stop our culture collapse:
1. Maintain the traditonal definition of marriage.
2. Maintain the don't ask, don't tell military policy for practicing homosexuals.
3. Continue to honor God in our motto, our pledge and the public square.
4. Overturn Roe V. Wade.
5. Honor indvidual rights of life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, property and the right to keep and bear arms.
6. Allow for full freedom and competition in education. Back the Federal government away from controlling it.
7. Overturn the recent healthcare legislation. Make needed reforms, but open up the system to the private sector for creative and innovative changes.

Government:
1. There must be term limits for congress and federal judges - I suggest 12 years.
2. Legislation must be written with simplicity, clarity and brevity.
3. Elected officials must not be able to raise their own salaries and benefits.
4. Government workers should be under Social Security.
5. No amendment should be added to legislation unless it is germane to the primary bill.
6. Congress must function out in the open not behaind closed doors.

The Principles: A return to 3 basic principles can solve the most severe of our problems.
1. Limited government.
2. Individual rights.
3. Personal responsibility. Virtually everything we do as a nation can be filtered through these principles to solve our problems and stabilize our nation for the future. These principles will bring about low taxes, controlled spending, energy independence, elimination of entitlements, and renewed vitality to every area of national life.
