Kevin Brobson is seeking to apply his experience and recognition as a well-respected state administrative law and appellate lawyer to the position of judge of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Bar Association has recommended his candidacy, noting that "he has demonstrated the legal ability sufficient to have earned the respect of lawyers and members of the bench" and "has the appropriate judicial temperament" to serve on the court. Kevin's candidacy is also endorsed by the Republican State Committee of Pennsylvania.

The son of a state trooper and a life-long Pennsylvanian, Kevin is shareholder in the Pittsburgh-based law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC. He has broad experience before the Commonwealth Court and has built a successful practice focused on matters frequently considered by the court, such as insurance and health care regulation, professional licensure, and government contracting. He has represented numerous clients in cases before the court, challenging state agency actions that were contrary to law and that adversely affected his clients' property rights, contract rights, and livelihoods. Kevin is rated among the Best Lawyers in America 2009 and has been honored as a past recipient of the "Lawyers on the Fast Track" and "Forty Under 40" awards.

Drawing on his perspective and experience, Kevin understands the importance of the Commonwealth Court's role in our statewide judiciary. Commonwealth Court is the court that affects the most Pennsylvanians. It is the court that decides cases that impact how we educate our children, elect our public officials, preserve our historic and natural resources, and care for our elderly. The court serves an important function of hearing cases challenging the actions of state and local governments. Kevin understands that an independent judiciary, one that will give equal and fair treatment to private litigants who question the actions of government, is an integral part of preserving our democracy. He also is committed to the notion that a fair and independent judiciary requires judges to set aside personal biases and the politics of the day and to, instead, decide cases based on the facts and the law.

Pointing to his commitment to community and service, Kevin has received awards and recognition from both the Dauphin County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar ssociation for his role in designing and implementing an innovative legal services program that teams commercial lawyers and law firms with nonprofit entities to provide pro bono business legal services in areas such as governance, taxation, employment, contracts, and real estate. He also serves on the Middle Paxton Township Planning Commission and is the past chairman and member of the board of directors of Jump Street, a nonprofit community arts and outreach organization.

Kevin received his undergraduate degree from Lycoming College, magna cum laude. He graduated from the Widener University School of Law (Harrisburg Campus) summa cum laude and second in his graduating class. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable James McGirr Kelly, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Born in Montoursville, Pennsylvania Kevin now resides just outside of Harrisburg in Middle Paxton Township, with his wife Lauren (Cotter) and his three children--Claire, Will, and Gabe.
