My name is Mary Beth Carroll, and I am running for Commissioner in Cheltenham Township's 4'th Ward. I am writing to ask for your support in the November 3'rd election.

I believe that the success of a candidate is much more about the quality of their ideas than any political affiliation. I am running as a Republican, and am proud to do so. However, my agenda is solely focused on improving the quality of life in Cheltenham and the quality of services delivered by our Township Government, and not split down any party lines. My husband is a long time Independent, and has shown me the value of reaching across party lines.

Former Speaker Of The House Tip O'Neill once said "All politics is local". Local Government is the foundation on which rests County, State, and even our Federal Government. And local Government runs best when the local people are informed and involved. As a private citizen, I have attended every commissioners meeting over the past 2 years. I am also currently a member of the Cheltenham Environmental Advisory Council. I am familiar and well versed in ALL the local issues that YOU are concerned about. I look forward to YOUR input, and welcome the opportunity to meet face to face with you about any ideas, questions or problems you may have. I want YOU to be informed and involved in your local Government.

Simply put, I care. I have lived nearly half of my life in Cheltenham Township. And I care about issues that affect our quality of life: political issues such as Green Initiatives and our high property taxes, developmental issues such as Ashbourne Road and the Jenkintown Train Station Garage.

I want your help and your input to help make Cheltenham a more livable and enjoyable Township, and, if elected, I promise to do my best for you and our community.

Finally, I strongly urge you to get out to the polls and vote, not only in this election, but whenever you have the opportunity. Apathy is eventually fatal to a Republic, and we must be ever vigilant.
