Finances

I believe that government must find ways to continue to reduce costs to our residents. I have found ways to save thousands from recycling, energy efficency, health care, grants and auditing invoices. Businesses are all asking their employees and suppliers to do more at lower costs and government needs to do the same. We cannot continue to increase taxes because many of our residents cannot afford it. We need give our staff a cost reduction goal and make it as part of their evaluation.

Alternative Funding

I was the originator of the Park and Recreation Impact Fee that we have used to upgrade many of our parks and I now want to expand it to new commercial construction since they also make use of our parks. This is a way to make improvements without increasing real estate taxes. We also need to apply for all available grants.

Communication

I believe that our government needs to communicate to our residents on what we are doing and I have started an electronic newsletter for any resident that sends me their e-mail. This is in addtion to my "Marple Voice" newsletter that I send out to my Ward.
