Candidate for Trustee; Township of Anderson

This information is provided by the candidate
As trustee for the last eight years, I have advocated and worked hard to create positive change for Anderson, while preserving what is best about the township. Over the next four years I will endeavor to continue that course.
I will pursue the following:

1. Fiscal Responsibility

Continue to create responsible budgets that result in low growth of the government, less than the rate of inflation. We will monitor the current economic situation and reduce expenditures as necessary. Continue to pursue grant monies to augment our projects.

2. Do not raise taxes

Through careful budgeting, the 2000 levy was stretched to eight years. The 2008 five-year safety levy can be similarly extended. No additional levies are anticipated in the foreseeable future.

3. Maintain property values

Enhance programs and projects that make Anderson one of the most desirable places to live in the region, such as:

  • Anderson Trails, including the Ohio River Trail;
  • Improvements to Beechmont Ave. (street trees, parallel access ways, traffic flow enhancements);
  • Greenspace;
  • Improved business districts;
  • Support development of Anderson Towne Place, our new movie theater; and
  • Property maintenance code and enforcement.

4. Provide Excellent Services

Fire, EMS, police, and road maintenance: Anderson has a great reputation for excellence in these services. This will be continued, without adding undue costs. Promote one-stop-shopping for permits and zoning issues.

5. Promote a Sense of Community

Anderson Center has brought a focal point to Anderson. Community events like the Party on the Plaza, Jack-O Lantern Walk, Farmer's Market, and Winter Festival have provided families with opportunities to gather and enjoy their township. The theater has brought home the Beechmont Players and Forest-Aires and provided new events like the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra performances. Even more events are planned for the future. This was all made possible with no additional cost to the residents.

6. Emphasize Green initiatives

Preserve Anderson's abundant green areas.

  • Trails and walking paths
  • Street tree program
  • Greenspace program
  • Junk days, recycling, and trash cleanup
  • Support regional clean water initiatives
  • Gateway greening
