Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Bev Meyers

Candidate for
Council Member; Village of Cleves

This information is provided by the candidate

The first two years I served as Chairperson of the Parks Committee. I think if anyone visits the Cleves Community Park you can be proud of it as a community. My goal was to have the Park be entirely cost effective and self supporting. This was accomplished. I am glad to say that in the last two years the Park Fund has paid for the maintenance and upkeep with out tax payer assistance. We are also looking at outside donations for it's improvement.

The last two years I have served as Safety Committee Chairperson. To me this is one of the most important Committees that a Village can have. It concerns everyone of us to have a safe place in which to live.
1. With the help of the current police chief, the police department has controlled cost and still given us the protection that we as citizens need. This was after a substantial budget cut of his department.
2. We have started a rotation of the police cars and will continue to look at mileage, etc. to see that all the vehicles are maintained in a good manner.
3. We will continue to work to see that all areas of the Village are protected.
4. A software program for the court system, has been purchased that has brought us into the twenty-first century. Our old system was looking from page to page and book to book, not easily finding the answers. We could still find the answers, but was time consuming. The new program works simply by putting in a name and the answer is there.
5. The Safety Committee has worked hard with the VOLUNTEER fire/life squad department to make sure we have good fire/life squad protection. We are one of the few fire departments left in Hamilton County that are still VOLUNTEER. With the help of the current Fire Chief we are increasing the volunteers. New rules have required more demands of the fire departments. Reading in the Cincinnati Magazine, we have a 6.3 minute response time, a very good rating.
6. I was also appointed to chair a special records committee and with the help of the Village Clerk, the Clerk of Courts, and the Board of Public Affairs Clerk, our records are now in better shape than ever before. We will have a controlled record keeping system.
7. Housing is still my passion. We are working to bring all the housing in Cleves up to code. We passed the Landlord Law and now have a Compliance Officer (Police Officer) that works four hours a week to see that grass is cut, litter is taken care of and in general Polices, the area so to speak.
8. It is still my belief that the Village needs a five and ten year plan to work from.
