Questions & Answers

1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

I have the leadership experience and commitment to excellence desperately needed in the Treasurer's office. My experience with staff supervision and meeting goals in both the private and government sector will serve me well. I understand that too much government, as well as too little, is a waste of taxpayer's ....

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

I will make myself accessible to the Administration, City Council and Department Heads to assist in any financial issues. Additionally, unlike the current City Treasurer, I personally pledge to have regular office hours and to attend City Council meetings.

3. What two actions would you promote to enhance city revenue or decrease city expenditures in order to balance the city budget, given the current economic conditions? (100 word limit)

By bringing responsibility, professionalism, transparency and a strong work ethic to the Tresurer's office, I pledge to hire a full time qualified staff to work to restructure and modernize the office. As the office also responsible for tax collection, I pledge to have a full time tax commissioner and staff to fairly and professionally collect the taxes owed.

4. What steps should the local government take to ensure that the quality of rental property meets minimum legal standards? (100 word limit)

As the former Building Department Deputy Commissioner for the City of Norwood, I have personally worked to ensure the quality of rental property in the City of Norwood. The City Administration needs to full fund and fully train the staff Norwood Building Department. Local governments should stengthen current laws and make both the landland and renter responsible for conditions of rental property. Also, more enforcement is needed to reduce illegal rental units.
