Candidate for
Council Member; City of Cincinnati

I have dedicated my personal and professional life to building a better Cincinnati.

I was elected to his first term on Cincinnati City Council in November 2005, and was re-elected in 2007. I chair the Rules & Government Operations Committee, where I have overseen rules to make Council more orderly. I am also vice-chair of the Finance committee and also serve on the following Committees: Economic Development; Health, Environment & Education; and Law & Public Safety.

As a fifth-generation Cincinnatian, I was born and raised in Westwood and attended St. Catharine Elementary School and St. Xavier High School, where I played varsity football and ran track. I graduated cum laude from Miami University, and in 1999 earned my M.B.A with honors from Xavier University. I am currently the Cincinnati Bengals Director of Sales and Public Affairs while also serving as a City Council Member. I am also a member of the 40 Under 40 Class of 2006.

Early in my career, I took on the task of making my hometown a better place to live, work, and raise a family. I helped form a coalition of Democrats, Republicans, Charterites, members of the NAACP, and many other concerned citizens dedicated to reforming city government. After gathering input from across the city, I helped lead the coalition in 1999 to pass the reform that allowed city voters to directly elect their mayor.

I have a long record of public service, taking on roles where I focused on getting government to work as an active partner in building stronger communities. I worked for former United States Senator John Glenn, former Ohio Attorney General Anthony Celebrezze, and former Congressman David Mann. Also, I led a successful national legislative campaign to protect funding for higher education.

I also served in an active role in the Greater Cincinnati United Way and local Chamber of Commerce. I chaired various committees and worked with social service agencies and businesses to better direct United Way funding to agencies that make a real difference in Cincinnati neighborhoods. For nine years, I volunteered with the Chamber of Commerce to study the community and business impact of local ballot issues.

I am the proud father of a sixth generation of Cincinnati Berdings --- his three children, Allie, Jack and Grace. I live in Linwood with my wife Lindsay and my three children. We are members of St. Mary's parish.
