1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

Answer from Lynn P. Larson:
I have a strong commitment and belief in our community's excellence in educating our children. I also bring four years of Board experience and learning about our District's educational process focusing on Finances and Student Achievement. I have two graduated daughters and one son currently at Wyoming High School.
Answer from Jennifer Etler:
My professional experience has prepared me to pay attention to details for both preparation and outcome. As a health professional, I am aware of a holistic approachto every patient.In Wyoming we need to teach the whole child and focus not only on test results but personal growth.
Answer from Sheryl Felner:
Four years on Board during which the district improved financial controls, improved academic performance index and developed goals addressing knowledge and skill needs of this generation. I don't bring a personal agenda other than to grow the excellence of Wyoming Schools and to work hard at the job.

My wife and I moved to Wyoming specifically for the schools.I have spent part of my career focused on the importance of maintenance and direct service to the public.My involvement with youth athletics has taught me the importance extracurricular activities has on academic achievement.

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

Answer from Sheryl Felner:
1. Follow the Strategic Plan. Work with the district and residents to be honestly self-critical,look outside for tested ideas, and adopt proven new processes while maintaining current strengths.
2.We must preserve Wyoming's legacy of strong financial support for education by recognizing the challenges of the current economy and insecurity of state funding. Continue to focus on finances and provide long term excellence with cost in mind.
3.Use district publications and other media to reach residents, evaluate effectiveness. Support district efforts to improve communication between teachers,students and parents.
Answer from Jennifer Etler:
I will reevaluate the delivery of special services, move to provide early childhood education and special needs identification.Wyoming lags far behind our competitors in technology, and there is a digital gap within our community that must be lessened so that all children have an opportunity to learn.Classrooms need to be outfitted with more computers, and the number of laptop carts in each building should be doubled.It's time to encourage and reward innovative teaching through professional development and reduce testing.
Answer from Vernon L Etler:
I will exercise direct oversight of the superintendent and district treasurer,institute zero based budgeting and prioritize that dollars be spent on teaching and learning.I will encourage public involvement in school board meetings, listen to the students and rely on teachers to be the expert educators.I will insist future administrators live in the district. I will work to rebuild the personnel compliment so that daily maintenance and long term care are provided in house, and new innovation dollars be spent on technology.

As a current Wyoming BOE member, I support our schools in providing an education that fosters the achievement of an individual student's excellence. The way we educate continues to change. It's now about exceeding state standards, global influences, 21st century skills, and meeting the needs of individual learners. Real educational work is never done, and we need to keep supporting our teachers and administrators to do their best in an ever-changing academic environment. Our challenge is to accomplish all this, and be fiscally responsible to our stakeholders and our community, parents and taxpayers.
Answer from Terry G. Marty:
I'll enhance `student achievement' by continuing to seek new opportunities for our students' to become 21st century learners. This is achieved by supporting current initiatives and promoting innovations that allow students to compete in global opportunities.
I will support `sound fiscal management' by hiring creative administrative leadership. This has been achieved in individual buildings and district wide by setting obtainable goals through effective long term planning.
I will `engage' residents about our schools with emphasis on our biggest demographic the "Empty Nesters". I'll encourage their engagement into our schools utilizing opportunities like the Senior Citizen Golden Cowboy Passport program.
