This information is provided by the candidate

Matt Metz has been a practicing attorney for over twenty years and has tried over forty cases to verdict. He has also been an Administrative Law Judge for the County of Westchester and the State of New York for over eight years. He has presided over hundreds of hearings and written many substantive decisions, none of which has ever been reversed by any Court.

Matt is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Buffalo Law School. After graduating from law school he was hired by the Bronx District Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted murder cases, cases where police officers had been shot or assaulted, armed robberies and many other violent crimes. After trying over thirty cases, he became a Major Offense-Homicide Assistant District Attorney.

After leaving the Bronx District Attorney's Office, Matt became a staff trial counsel for a major insurance company. In 1995 he started his own law firm and moved his practice to Yorktown in 1998. He has handled many cases in the Yorktown Justice Court and local courts from Kingston to New York City. As a Councilman and Deputy Supervisor he helped prepare the budget for the Yorktown Justice Court, so he understands its finances and personnel. "Matt Metz knows the Yorktown Justice Court inside and out," said Alice Roker, Yorktown's Town Clerk.

Ultimately, the Yorktown Justice Court is a trial court, which means that the Yorktown Town Justice must have extensive trial experience. "Matt Metz has the trial experience required," said Former Yorktown Town Justice, Andrew Tully. "He will do a wonderful job as Justice of our Court."
