Although not born in Ventura, I was raised in Oxnard and attended Oxnard public schools and Ventura College. My husband and I were married at the Cross in 1978. I am the mother of 2 sons, with one currently surviving. He is married and has produced the love of my life: my granddaughter, Fiona Scarlett, who was born at CMH. My son Ryan was born at St. John's in Oxnard. While living with my husband and children in Oxnard during the late 1980s, I completed a BA, summa cum laude, at UCSB. I began my legal studies at Ventura College of Law, but completed them at Lincoln Law School in Sacramento. During my years at Law School I clerked for 2 law firms obtaining invaluable experience. I was admitted to practice law in 1991 after sitting successfully for the Bar exam in July of that year. Since then I have practiced civil defense litigation throughout the State and in Federal Courts.

I am running for City Council, in part, because I have lived in other communities in the State and have observed the good, the bad, and the ugly results of local government. Because of this perspective I see the tarnish that has been allowed to grow on Ventura because of the neglect and mismanagement by City government. Because I have seen the negative changes in the last 4 years as well as the changes since 1989, and I understand they are the effects of bad policy, I am running for Council to help reverse these negative changes and restore common sense and limited government in accordance with our fundamental American principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I am one of five siblings-the middle child. My father is retired a Navy man having served during both the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam. My mother was an RN at St. John's hospital for many years. After their retirement, they became missionaries with the Catholic Church and served for several years in South Dakota, with my father becoming ordained as a Deacon. I am a practicing Roman Catholic and my faith in God is important to me. I am currently a member of the Mission Parish.
