Candidate for City Council; City of Brisbane

Candidate Statement
Name: A. Sepi Richardson

Occupation: Incumbent/School Business Consultant

Education & Qualifications:

It has been an honor to serve as your Mayor and Councilmember. I ask for your vote to continue the critical community work that lies ahead.

Brisbane has been my home for over 22 years. I own and operate Richardson Financial Consulting, a business dedicated to helping schools effectively manage their finances. I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and a Masters Degree in Counseling and Psychology.

I have worked hard to sustain and improve the services available to our community. I provided leadership for building a community swimming pool and implementing the seismic retrofit of the City Hall. To protect the health of our citizens, I spearheaded adoption of an ordinance limiting freight forwarding in the Industrial Park.

During my time in office, we built senior housing, a teen center, a community garden, a dog park, quarry road park, a bicycle path, the community park, and the Mission Blue Center. We expanded the arts and recreation programs, televised Council and Planning Commission meetings, purchased land for open space, provided funding for our schools and library, and developed Shuttle service programs.

My extensive finance background has been an asset during these challenging economic times. We developed a balanced budget that reduced personnel and operating expenses while still funding programs that reflect the needs and values of our community. To address our long-term infrastructure needs, we placed a business license tax measure on the ballot. The hotel room tax on the November ballot is another example of our efforts to generate revenues without increasing the burden on our residents.

We now face important development choices that will have a profound impact on our community. I pledge to ensure that any development projects on the Baylands and Sierra Point reflect the community's vision and preserve our small town atmosphere.

I will work to expand citizen input and participation while supporting a new library, safeguarding our open space, implementing neighborhood watch programs, advocating for airport noise reduction, and promoting sustainable energy practices.

Now more than ever, the City Council needs experienced leaders who have earned your confidence and trust. Together we have made our community a special place to live, work and play. I ask for your vote and support to ensure that Brisbane will continue to be a jewel on the side of our mountain.
