Statement of GREGORY SCHARFF, Candidate for
Member, Palo Alto City Council
Occupation: Attorney           Age: 46
Education and Qualifications:
Married; Three Children, 10, 14 and 17; Bowdoin College B.A. Economics, Columbia University School of Law J.D.; Former Board Member of the Nonprofit Palo Alto Housing Corporation.

My family and I have resided in Palo Alto for over 20 years, and since 2000 I have practiced law in Palo Alto near California Avenue. Our family moved to Palo Alto for its unique combination of a small town atmosphere, sophistication, excellent schools, walkable and bike friendly neighborhoods and overall charm. I am running to preserve and enhance the qualities that make Palo Alto special.

I stand for fiscal responsibility and sound financial practices, strong neighborhood character, a vibrant downtown, vital neighborhood retail, an improved relationship with Stanford and sustainable environmental practices. I am strongly concerned about the long and short term fiscal health of our city, the impact of high speed rail on our neighborhoods, the need for investment in our infrastructure, rising utility rates and preserving the unique character of our neighborhoods.

Together we can keep Palo Alto a world class place to live and work. With your help we can do it. I appreciate your support.
