Candidate for
Council Member; City of Palo Alto

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Statement of LEON LEONG, Candidate for
Member, Palo Alto City Council
Occupation: Business Person & Community Volunteer
Education and Qualifications:
Education: Stanford University (Masters), UC Berkeley (Bachelors), Palo Alto High, Jordan Middle and El Carmelo Elementary School.

As a council member, I will be a new voice for Palo Altans, with my top priorities being housing, economic vitality and our city's budget.

I'm for preserving the character of our neighborhoods and opposed to zoning changes which increase housing density unless more is done to address the significant impacts on school overcrowding, traffic congestion, and over utilization of city infrastructure & services.

We need to grow our city's tax base by encouraging new businesses to come to Palo Alto. I oppose the proposed Business License Tax which creates disincentives for retaining & attracting businesses.

As a business person I will use my experience to provide oversight on city expenses. As a life-long resident my goal is to preserve the services that many of our residents find beneficial and budget for the growing backlog of infrastructure issues in our city.

I ask for your vote so that we can continue to make Palo Alto a unique and special place to live.
