  • Live Within Our Means:

After the last economic downturn in the early 1990's, the City established strong financial reserve policies (Resolutions 95-156 & 157)

Our City must:

Recommit itself to Resolutions 95-156 and 157.

Rebuild reserves in the General Fund.

Streamline the City's government structure.

Ensure Enterprise Funds pay full share of costs.

Bring employees back to the bargaining table to create a sustainable salary structure.

  • Protect Santa Barbara's Character:

Fund adequate maintenance for City buildings and parks.

Pass Measure B to lower building heights.

Environmental Protection:

Increase City commitment to green building design.

Ensure clean creeks and beaches.

Invest in solar roofs and energy-conserving retrofits.

  • Safe Streets and Strong Neighborhoods:

Address youth violence and gang activity with coordinated prevention and suppression.

Strengthen Neighborhood Organizations.

Invest in bike patrols, beat coordinators, and better community policing.

Bring back the City Host program.

Enforce defensible space requirements in the foothills.

Improve education about reverse 911 systems and evacuation routs.
