Santa Barbara's Mesa has been my home for the past 31 years and I have delivered the mail in numerous neighborhoods in Santa Barbara and represented numerous coworkers as a postal union representative. I served my coworkers, while delivering mail, as a shop steward, branch public relations officer, newsletter editor and the branch president. I was recognized in 2005 as the National Association of Letter Carriers National Humanitarian Hero for my work:

After retiring from the postal service I worked as an alcoholism counselor at Pinecrest Hospital and the Santa Barbara Veterans Center and organized recovery groups. I also worked as a staff naturalist for Baja Expeditions at their Grey Whale Beach Camp at Laguna San Ignacio for three seasons. I'm an organic grower and grow forty varieties of fruit in my backyard and have sold fruit at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market many years ago when it was a local farmers market. Now I exchange my fruit with my neighbors at the neighborhood exchanges. (http://www.sbfoodnotlawns.org). I am also a trained massage technician, having trained at the Body Therapy Institute. I offered massage at the Vet Center as well as alcoholism counseling.

As a community organizer, I cofounded the Veterans For Peace chapter in Santa Barbara and have been active with the transition towns, plan Santa Barbara and the organic gardening and bicycling groups.
