BORN ON THE CENTRAL COAST

I am a product of the Central Coast. I was born and raised on the Central Coast and have lived here nearly my entire life. My parents are from Jaliso, Mexico and immigrated to the United States in the 1960's. My parents both worked in the fields for many years and they gave me the opportunity to become who I am. They deserve much of the credit of who I am today. I saw their struggle and I understood at a young age that I needed to work hard and get a good education.

WORK EXPERIENCE

I graduated from UC Berekely and came back to my community in order to give back to it. I have had the honor to work as an ESL Teacher, an at-risk youth counselor, a UC Santa Cruz Academic Department Manager, an Executive Director of two organizatons and am currently a Management Analyst for the County of Monterey. With my work experience and public service I have had to deal with budgets ranging from $30,000 to $31 Million dollars. In addition I have had to respond to funders, board members and the Board of Supervisors.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

In addition to this I have been on several boards, been a school site member, president of Windy Acres for Preschoolers, LULAC member, Soledad Rotary member, South County YMCA Board Member and many other organizations.

WHO I AM

I am married and have two children and am a Soledad Unified School Board Trustee and am currently the Vice-President of the Monterey County School Board Association. I bring this wealth of experience to you the constituent in the hopes that you will consider me the right choice for Hartnell Board of Trustee. I am a proven leader ready to make a difference. I will make Hartnell more accessible, more reputable, and most importantly the college with consistent high quality programs. It is time to make Hartnell the Community College of Choice on the Central Coast!
