RE-ELECT, M A R G A R E T S E R N A - B O N E T T I

SALINAS UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, TRUSTEE

INTEGRITY, DEDICATION & FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY

A 20 YEAR RESIDENT OF CREEKBRIDGE

In these times of budgetary crisis it is imperative to retain an experienced incumbent board member who is fiscally responsible, asked questions and understands the districts needs. Currently the district is in the unenviable position of having to make important decisions regarding the future funding of the ROP and Adult School programs. My knowledge of the ROP budget and skill for fundraising are vital to the survival of these programs. With a Masters, in Governance that is centered on budgetary accountability, I have the training to get the job done.

100% ATTENDANCE IN THE BOARDROOM.

My promise to be an active board member by attending meetings, encouraging parent participation and listening to your concerns, has kept me busy throughout the district. I advocate for every dollar available and against bad decisions that will affect the future of our local schools. My love for this community and your continued support and faith in my abilities is humbling. The service I render to our students comes straight from the heart, it is the least that I can do to give back to my community....

Student test scores continue to rise in the Salinas Union High School District. The academic success of our students is top priority. The annual state budget cuts to the district have placed additional challenges on the school board, which has decided to make cuts as far away from the classroom as possible. Despite these setbacks our budget is balanced, our academic scores continue to go up, and our graduation rates have increased as we prepare our students to be competitive in a global economy.

In the battle to STOP the SALINAS STATE PRISON, I would like to thank the Military Veterans, Residents, Teachers, Students and Business Owners who signed petitions, made calls, and attended meetings. I could not have done it alone; it was your determination to protect the integrity of our community that made a difference. Thank You.

School Bond Funding: Our facilities are impressive with the addition of a softball and varsity baseball complex, a gym renovation, and state of the art security cameras at Alisal. Alvarez enjoys the addition of a 50-Meter competitive swimming pool that is open for CCS competition and summer swimming lessons for middle school students, a music room and library modernization. The addition of stadium lights this fall at Alvarez will allow the Eagles to play host under their own, "Friday Night Lights". Please come out to show your support.

Committees: Measure V Salinas City and Education Committee, City of Salinas Safety Alliance, Save Salinas Libraries, Monterey County School Boards Assoc., ROP Joint Powers Board, Special Education Joint Powers Board, Sunrise House, Salinas Valley Chamber Leadership Alumni, Partners for Peace Salinas Reads Week, and founded Steinbeck Bully Task Force, Steinbeck Elementary PTC, Steinbeck SSC and chaired Arts Silent Auction.

Thank You to everyone who has taken the time to wish me warm regards and encouragement in my re-election. I sincerely appreciate your vote.
