Candidate for
Council Member; City of South Pasadena

I was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1945. I attended public schools in the Detroit School System. I attended the University of Michigan obtaining a BS in Chemistry in 1966 and an MD degree in 1970. I graduated 27th in a class of 190. I did my internship at San Francisco General Hospital 1970-1971. I was a Battalion Surgeon in the First Marine Division at Camp Pendleton California from 1971-1973. I had a one year surgical residency at UC San Francisco 1973-1974 and was a Neurosurgical resident at the University of Southern California Los Angeles County Medical Center from 1974-1979. While a resident I was at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and the Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena.


I bought my first house on Orange Grove Avenue in South Pasadena in 1975 and my current house on Grand Avenue in 1981.


After my residency I became a member of the Southern California Permanente Medical Group where I was employed until 2005 when I retired.


I met my wife at Children's Hospital and married in 1978. I have three children; Daniel, Matthew, and Jonathon. All of my children attended the South Pasadena Schools.


While a father and a Doctor I was also my son's soccer coach. I coached and was on the AYSO Board of Directors from 1992-2001.


I consider myself an athlete and have run in 5 marathons including New York and Boston. I have run many road races and competed in triathlons though never in an ironman distance race. I have ridden my bike in five Centuries that is rides of 100 miles as well as many shorter rides. Though retired I ride four days a week and work in the gym twice a week.


I have been on the transportation Commission in South Pasadena since 2008 and am presently the Chairman.
