Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Las Virgenes Unified School District

I believe that public schools should provide all students with access to the tools they need to succeed in the real world. Although our community is blessed with participation and financial support from parents, businesses, and other residents, it is incumbent upon all Californians to work toward an equitable structure for public schools to provide quality education, rather than withdraw and move toward privatization of public schools.

To that end, I believe that successful and innovative approaches to providing better educational opportunities and results should be shared and taken advantage of. In our school district, we continue to focus on advancement, even in the face of declining financial support from the State. Our students continue to learn more and achieve higher each year. We continue to learn from ourselves and from others, and to apply what we learn to a constant model of improvement.

While my primary responsibility is to the students and residents of the Las Virgenes Unified School District, I will continue to press for statewide reform to public school financing, so California can once again be a leader in education.
