Position Paper # 3 - Proposed Merger of Hermosa Beach/Redondo Beach Fire Departments

A call for prioritizing the analysis of the proposed merger of two local Fire Departments.
In keeping with my stated policy of fiscal conservatism coupled with semi-annual budget reviews, I support an immediate, detailed, and thorough analysis of this proposed merger. Any proposal must have protecting citizen's lives and property with no decrease in response time as its primary focus. Second to that is any potential cost- savings to both cities.
It is only by careful consideration of forward-thinking and innovative solutions such as this that Hermosa Beach will be able to maintain fiscal solvency and ensure sufficient funding for needed improvements.
