As a member of the Bellflower Unified School District's Board of Education for the past 8 years...I have already served as President of the Board, and am currently the Vice President. Once re-elected, I will again become the President for a one year term. Having experience means knowing how to listen to the needs of students, parents, teachers, staff and the voters of our community. Having transparency as a school board member is limited to specifics, because of the laws (e.g. Brown Act) which restricts the Board from discussing publically matters of sensitive natures. For example, expulsions of students, employee discipline and release, legal matters, etc. I believe in, and have always had, an open door policy to anyone with concerns regarding school district matters. |
