Geoffrey L. Baum was elected to the governing board of the Pasadena Area Community College District in 2001. Geoff represents Trustee Area 1, which includes the City of La Caņada Flintridge, the west Pasadena neighborhoods of San Rafael and Linda Vista, and the western portions of Altadena. Baum served as PCC board president during 2005-06.

In recognition of his strong leadership at PCC and statewide, Geoff was recently confirmed with unanimous support to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. He is serving a six-year term on the board, which sets policy and provides guidance for the 72 districts and 110 campuses of the California Community Colleges system.

Baum's career spans higher education, journalism and community service. He works at the University of Southern California as managing director of the Center on Communication Leadership and Policy at the Annenberg School for Communication. He previously served as assistant dean of the Annenberg School and assistant vice president at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont. He has also worked in Washington, DC, helping citizens monitor the work of their elected officials as executive producer at C-SPAN, the national public affairs television network. As a community volunteer, he serves on the boards of the West Pasadena Residents Association, the Armory Center for the Arts and the Foothill Family Service advisory board.

Geoff holds an M.A. in journalism from USC and a B.A. in economics from Claremont McKenna College. He lives in Pasadena with his wife Lisa and daughter Amy.
