No Expansion of Current Powers

By Penny Elsebusch

Candidate for Director; McKinleyville Community Services District

This information is provided by the candidate
Any proposed additional powers, and the additional costs associated with them, must be approved by the voters.

I believe the District should not expand its powers and concentrate on its core responsibilities - water, sewer and recreation, and deliver those services with excellence, avoiding being drawn into political entanglements and activities that drain off resources, including requests from the County to absorb their responsibilities such as drainage or street paving.

In addition to water, sewer and recreation, the District already has absorbed the responsibility for maintaining street lights, landscape zones and detention basins.

The District owns the Library and Sheriff's buildings and maintains both of them.
