Best education for all students

By John C. Roth

Candidate for School Director; Boyertown Area School District; Region 3; 2 Year Term

This information is provided by the candidate
Students needs and interests vary greatly and our education programs must be able to help them succeed and progress educationally.
Education initiatives today are very demanding on the administrators, teachers and students. The enactment of No Child Left Behind has set benchmarks for schools and students that are rigorous. Testing has been increased for the students to measure their achievement progress. Student monitoring by teachers has increased to ensure that students are learning. School administrations and boards are given charge to design successful programs and pay for these programs.

As a teacher, school administrator and school board member, I have the experience to understand the problems and provide the guidance that a school director needs. My 30 years as a public school teacher and my 9 years as a teacher/administrator at a private school have given me first hand knowledge on what works and what does not. My time on the school board has brought my insight to the administration and other board members as decisions have been made to improve our district.

I have worked with gifted students, regular education students and students with special needs. Educationally each group and each individual student within these groups has his or her own needs. We as educators must try to provide education to serve each student. Special programs and classes must be provided as needed but not at the expense of programs or classes that meet the needs of other students.
