Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Anita L. Barton

Candidate for
Council Member; Borough of Conshohocken; Ward 4

This information is provided by the candidate

The first and foremost problem in the Borough is the raising of the our taxes to balance the budget. This had to be done due to council not paying attention to a projected budget for the coming year. Before things are bought or monies given out, the budget should be scrutinized and discussed at full length.

The buying of two properties that will not be used and are now trying to being sold by the Borough is outlandish. 3.25 million was spent on the Verizon building and it is now standing empty due to the fact that it will take 10 million to renivate it. Then there is a triangle piece of ground at 1st and Harry that should have never been bought for a parking lot. It's now being used by the neighbors. Ask yourself this question, why didn't they take that money and fix up Borough Hall and continue to use it instead of renting space for their offices. They had a building that was free and clear.

Limiting the term to 2, a total of eight years, for a council member should be considered. This way there would be a fresh outlook for the Borough every eight years. A new way to look at the concerns and monetary structure that need careful following. This would give a chance for a young person to step up and do a good job for their neighborhood. Things need a new direction over time and so should the council.
