Phil Turner for Magisterial District Judge

By Philip Turner, Jr.

Candidate for District Justice; Magisterial District Court; District 32-1-31

This information is provided by the candidate
Dear Friends and Neighbors, Please allow me to introduce my self. My name is Phil Turner and I am a candiate for Magisterial District Court Judge for Magisterial District Court 32-1--31 which whose juristiction lies in portions of Ridley Township (Wards 1,4,6 and 9) and the Boros of Eddystone and Rutledge.
I am a lifelong resident of Ridley Township and and a graduate of Ridley High School and have attended Delaware County Community College Criminal Justice Program. During my 32 years in law enforcement I served eight years with the Delaware County Sheriffs Dept.,as a Deputy Sheriff. The last twenty four years I have served with the Ridley Township Police Dept. having recently retired as a detective in Feb. 2009. During my tenure with the Ridley Police dept. I served in various capacities and have received commendations and honors from the FBI, DEA, United Stated Postal Service and other neighboring boroughs and townships for my work in assisting in investigations and solving of major crimes. This experience and knowledge gained during those 32 years I believe will be an invaluable asset once elected to the position I am seeking. I have spent every week during my career with the Ridley Township Police in my position as a detective in the very court Im looking to serve. I know the people of the district, where the problem areas are, and who the problem people are. Only a small percentage of my constituents will ever appear in a court room as either a witnees, a victim, a plantiff or a defendant. But I assure each and every voter thet I will treat everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve. Additionally, with fairness and with the interst of justice being the ultimate and only goal in my court. Not every court apperance needs to be resolved with a "legal decision". The are numerous alternative methods to acheiving justice that are amicible and agreeable to all parties involved. Given my experience and working relationships with the police departments of Ridley Township, Eddystone and Swarthmore (which serves Rutledge Boro) and the various administrations, I believe I am the most qualified and have the best opportunity to serve the interests of justice and the quality of life issues facing the people of the district. I would have an open door policy to listen and attempt to help resolve any problem arising in the courts district that I could address. And with my experience, any problem or issue not needing a court resolution would be referred to the proper avenue to get a fair and just resolution. That is my promise to the voters in Magisterial District 32-1-31.
