Goals

By Kathleen M. Roppa

Candidate for School Director; North Allegheny School District

This information is provided by the candidate
My goals for the 4-year term of offce are in the areas of technology, World Laguage and the average student. To expand on these goals here are more details in each area. Number one area is technology advancement, which can be accomplished through grants, business partnerships, incorporating the technology standards at every grade level and teacher training. Teachers and adults of today are immigrants of technology, while their students are the natives. As a result, it is crucial to make tecnology training a priority. In the area of World Language, one of the 21st century skills is mastering a secnd language. Best practices show that early learning of languages is most effective because the student is learning "how to learn a language." Finally, the average student, needs interdisciplinary teaching and team teaching to create more opportunities to reach the various modalities of learning. All students can experience success if given a fair platform and trained teacher who recognizes differences.
