Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Daniel A Rieg

Candidate for
Commissioner; Township of Mount Lebanon; Ward 4

I will work with the current School Board, and assist in my function as Commissioner, to complete the most responsible solution for the high school renovation and construction.

I want to eliminate wasteful municipal spending. We need to control and keep in check the excessive legal fees. Duplicate functions in the local government can be consolidated and more efficiently run. The green space development and ongoing private construction projects must be kept in check and be the best outcome for the community as a whole.

We must improve the local business community by attracting and keeping the appropriate businesses.

Community outreach support is critical. I will support what is needed to keep the library the best it can be. Our children are our greatest asset and they need support in all areas. We need to give the children things to do, and guide them in the right direction. There is a direct correlation to youth crime, drug, and alcohol use when children do not have appropriate things to do. First nights, teen centers, and school sponsored functions must continue, improve and increase.

Our ongoing parking and traffic issues will always be important. Sometimes these issues change with the times, but many are ongoing problems that we need to stay on top of. The overnight parking ordinance is a good example of something that needs revisited.

We have always been a leader in a wide range of areas. I want this to continue, and if we fall behind anywhere, it is my duty to get us back on track.
