To "uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary"'; "avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety"; to perform duties within our jurisdictional limit - fairly, impartially and diligently; to improve the law and the legal system; to improve the administration of justice when possible; to maintain order and decorum in judicial proceedings; to be faithful to the law and maintain competence in it; to be patient, dignified and courteous to litigants, jurors, witnesses, lawyers and the public generally; to afford every person a full right to be heard according to the law; to dispose of promptly the business of this court; to abstain from the public comment about pending proceedings; and to maintain similar standards for staff and others subject to our direction.
