Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Susan D. O'Connell

Candidate for
Mayor; Borough of Crafton

This information is provided by the candidate

Throughout my life, I have taken advantage of opportunities for experience and education. "For of those to whom much is given, much is required". Whether you attribute that quote to Luke 12:48 or to JFK, because I have been so blessed, I believe in giving back to my community.

Representative government means that as an elected official I need to listen to my constituents. Input from the people that I represent is essential to effective government.

With the present economic climate we need to be extremely vigilant to ensure the financial health of our community. This may be achieved by both pursuing grant and other funding opportunities as well as responsible fiscal management.

In addition, we need to make sure that we are providing those who help ensure our safety, our police and fire departments, with the tools to do just that. This is often a delicate balance that requires a solid working knowledge of our public safety issues as well as an understanding of our financial condition.

Crafton is a strong and vital community because of the efforts of its volunteers. It is my goal to focus on and encourage the contributions of our volunteers and provide my support to their efforts. The borough government is only a tool for the citizens to achieve and maintain a strong and vital community.
