Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Stacey R. Chick

Candidate for
Commissioner; Township of Mount Lebanon; Ward 4

This information is provided by the candidate

Mt. Lebanon is a strong, dynamic community driven by the commitment, energy and innovativeness of its people! Since I was fortunate enough to join this community, I have witnessed time and time again individuals taking a stand to make this community better. When a fire destroyed the playground in Williamsburg Park, a group of citizens came together offering their time, skills and effort to rebuild. Enduring relationships built during those days will continue to be a great strength for this neighborhood. It is this spirit of activism and common effort that makes Mt. Lebanon thrive. We need a local government that listens to and encourages community insight and involvement.

Today, we find ourselves confronting the challenges of a deep recession that has had severe consequences for many of our neighbors. Some have lost their jobs, some have lost their homes and almost all have seen their savings and retirement funds greatly reduced. This is why we must keep taxes low even as we build for the future. To do this, we must leverage our great strength, the commitment, energy and innovation of our people to cooperatively and efficiently help develop our public programs and resources. Citizen and government partnerships foster community unity and ownership. At the same time, we must not waste money on unnecessary or ineffective programs.
