Improve Basic City Services

By Georgia Blotzer

Candidate for Member, Council; City of Pittsburgh; District 2

This information is provided by the candidate
From paving streets to plowing snow, from crime prevention to building code enforcement, Pittsburgh needs to find ways to do more with less. In District 2, too often that has meant doing less while watching other parts of the city receive priority attention. Georgia is dead-set on making sure OUR communities are the priority: by being an innovative partner when she can, and being an aggressive advocate when she must.

During her inaugural speech, Theresa Kail-Smith outlined a strategy for improvement that is based on "increased volunteerism" and its residents taking on a "greater level of responsibility." While community engagement and resident responsibility are essential, we the citizens of District 2 have a right to expect better and more consistent services from city government in exchange for our tax dollars!

Are we using the most cost-effective road paving and patching materials? Are we following through on building-code citations by actually taking irresponsible landlords to court? It's easy to make promises, but a lifetime of professional and community accomplishments proves that only Georgia Blotzer has the attention to detail and the tenacity to follow through. THERE IS NO HIGHER PRIORITY for Georgia than making sure the residents of District 2 get a fair return on their tax dollars.
