Candidate for
Member, Board of Education; Eastchester Union Free School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Dear Eastchester Neighbors,

My wife Jamie and our three school-age children have been Eastchester residents since 2001, and watching our children grow so quickly has inspired me to serve the school district that will ultimately prepare them for future endeavors that will no doubt occur in some very challenging and uncertain economic times. We have an 11-year old daughter and a 9-year old son, both currently attending Greenvale Elementary School. We also have a 4-year old son who will be attending Waverly in the very near future.

I have seventeen years of public school experience. I began my educational career as a special education paraprofessional in the New York City Public Schools. I worked my way up to a Teacher of Special Education with District 75 in NYC, and then as an Administrator with the Chancellor's Office of Monitoring and School Improvement. I also spent approximately seven years with both Nassau and Southern Westchester BOCES, holding Coordinator, Supervisor, as well as Director, titles. Currently, I am serving as an Assistant Superintendent of Schools in a Long Island public school district. My wife Jamie is also an educator (Special Education teacher) in New York City.

I believe I can bring a broad base of knowledge and experience to the Eastchester Board of Education, enabling me to vote with intelligence and confidence on complex issues such as personnel negotiations, finance, curriculum & community relationships.

I have the courage to make difficult decisions, defend the philosophy and goals of the Board, and work tirelessly, collaboratively, and most importantly, transparently, with ALL community members. I possess a B.A. in Psychology from St. John's University, a Masters in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, as well as a Master's and a Ph.D. in Psychological Measurement and Statistics from Columbia University.

I am now, and always will be, an advocate for our children, as well as high quality educational programs and services. I am strongly committed to maintaining the academic initiatives and co-curricular programs and activities that round out the educational experience for all of our students. I will do my utmost to promote that goal and hopefully i will have a chance to work for the Eastchester residents and their children.

Thank you for your support.
