RE-ELECT MAYOR JEFFREY PRANG -- MARCH 3RD

West Hollywood is a very special community. As your Mayor, I have worked hard to represent our City with integrity and a vision for the future. I have been accessible and responsive to the issues and concerns most important to our residents. Most importantly, I have worked hard to ensure that our shared vision for a better West Hollywood be realized in the policies and programs we have developed. Below are some highlights of my positions and accomplishments while serving as Mayor and Councilmember.

PUBLIC SAFETY

  • I recognize that our safety in our homes and businesses is the community's top priority and I am proud that the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff's has endorsed my re-election.
  • During my term, we have cracked down on hate crimes and increased Sheriff's patrols on Sunset and in neighborhoods. If re-elected, I will push for a dedicated Eastside Sheriffs patrol and an increase in traffic enforcement on residential streets.
  • I sponsored significant legislation to enforce our anti-smoking ban and initiated West Hollywood's Restaurant Grading Ordinance.

PARKING AND NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY OF LIFE

  • Understanding the serious parking shortage, I supported the construction of 800 new parking spaces, including new parking lots on Sunset Blvd., Santa Monica Blvd., LaPeer Ave, the Melrose/Robertson intersection, and at the Pacific Design Center.

  • I have been the strongest voice against over development and for the neighborhood traffic-calming programs that have added more stop signs, banned overnight parking of commercial vehicles on residential streets, and lowered speed limits in our residential neighborhoods.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

As a former Rent Stabilization Commissioner, I voted for tough new tenant protection laws and lobbied county, state, and federal officials to protect seniors and the disabled in our community from losing their Section 8 housing and voted to prohibit landlords from removing parking spaces from tenants.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Maintaining the high level of services that West Hollywood residents expect and deserve, I have advocated for responsible and sustainable development that will enhance economic growth and opportunity while protecting the quality of life in our neighborhoods. The West Hollywood Gateway and the Pacific Design Center's long-awaited Red Building will help keep our City's economy healthy and provide revenues needed to support our vital City programs and social services.

INFRASTRUCTURE

  • As Councilmember and Mayor, I supported the Santa Monica Boulevard Reconstruction Project and the construction of our new fire station. I also supported major improvements to Fountain Avenue and other local streets, and the construction of our Community Services Center at Plummer Park.
  • But there's more to do. The redevelopment of our parks will expand open space and recreational opportunities. We are making progress on our new library, which will be a major educational and research facility for the entire City. We also will construct more parking structures over the next 24 months to help our business districts prosper and to keep business traffic off residential streets.

OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITY

West Hollywood is home to a diverse population of gay, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people, those living with HIV/AIDS and disabilities, seniors, and immigrants. I have been a tireless champion for marriage equality and domestic partner rights, and have fought to expand programs and opportunities for seniors and the disabled. I have led efforts to recognize the contributions of our Russian Veterans of WWII.

ENVIRONMENT

  • In recent years, we have expanded parkland and green space at Kings Road Park, Holloway Park, and the planned new neighborhood parks on Havenhurst and Formosa.
  • As the endorsed candidate of the League of Conservation Voters, I have advocated for responsible environmental policy to fight storm water pollution, and I've advocated for alternative fuel buses at the MTA Station located in the middle of our City.

WON'T YOU PLEASE HELP?

As Mayor and Councilmember, I have worked hard to make West Hollywood the best community to live and work anywhere in California. I am proud of our City and I am grateful that you have provided me the opportunity to be of service to you and the community. I would be honored to have your support for my re-election. Please feel free to call me at home (323) 654-8433 if you have any questions or concerns you would like to share, or if you would like to get involved in my campaign.
