Political Philosophy for Michael Hakim

"My name is MICHAEL HAKIM, I'm a life long resident of Beverly Hills and I am running for City Council." For years, people of our city have endured traffic gridlock and parking nightmares. This must change! My proposals specifically address this crisis. We must immediately embrace real solutions including - encouraging regional public transit to reduce traffic into Beverly Hills and controlling overdevelopment. We need to expand diagonal parking, add underground and off-street parking, designated bike paths, traffic calming medians and mini-bus networks. Recent City infrastructure improvements in the center of town created a pedestrian-friendly environment and should be spread throughout Beverly Hills...beautiful sidewalks, energy efficient lighting, smart crosswalks, benches which benefit seniors particularly, plus green landscaping and trees with conserve water. Beverly Hills can be the greenest, most environmentally-minded city, making a contribution to reducing dependency on imported oil, addressing global warming, cleaning the air and alleviating the traffic mess. In Beverly Hills, public safety must continue to be a top priority! Michael strongly supports our police, fire and paramedics. He is a long time leader of his neighborhood watch and member of the Fire Wise Board for the City. Michael worked to pass Measure E to ensure out public schools maintain their high standards. "My involvement in community activities, civic affairs and small business experience convinces me that transparency at City Hall is essential. A reform minded-openness, a sensitivity and respect which encourages residents to engage our challenges leads to preserving and improving the special nature of our City. I welcome your thoughts and invite you to visit my website: http://www.michaelhakim.com" Sincerely, Michael Hakim |
