DEVELOPMENTBy Michael Richard AmerianCandidate for City Attorney; City of Los Angeles | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Problem: Playing politics with property development, which leaves all sides dissatisfied. As City Attorney, my primary duty is to enforce and uphold all laws. When it comes to development issues, this duty comes into play in two ways + first by writing the laws and second by applying them. Any laws relating to development must properly address: (1) the pressures from a growing population, (2) the infrastructure demands that this population growth places on the City, and (3) existing residents' right to quiet enjoyment of their homes. The City Attorney must ensure that all rules and procedures with regard to land use are followed so that all stakeholders can trust everyone is operating on a level playing field. This means working pro-actively with all stakeholders every step of the way. Nobody should have to sue the City to have his or her voice heard. In addition, I will work with all stakeholders to streamline the land use approvals process to make it more user-friendly. |
