Smart Voter Full Biography for Richard L. "Dick" Gokey

Candidate for
State Representative; District 130

This information is provided by the candidate

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

My name is Richard Gokey, and I'm the Republican candidate for State Representative, I grew up on a small family farm, where my father also worked as a commercial fisherman to make ends meet. I have worked as a small businessman here in our area for the past 22 years. I have served as a township supervisor in Amity for the past 6 years. With my background on the farm and as a small businessman I know what it means to make ends meet and live within your means. I have worked hard to bring those ideals to my work in Amity Township.

I know the importance of preserving the open space, hunting grounds and farmlands that make our area a great place to live. I have already been able to preserve 125 Acres of open space in Amity Township.

As the father of four children, two that still live at home, I know the importance of ensuring that we encourage smart growth, so that our children can find affordable housing and well paying jobs, so they can live and raise their families here.

I am running for State Representative so that I can protect our Berks' County values. I will always vote to protect life, and the sanctity to marriage, I will always vote to protect our second amendment rights, and will never vote for wasteful spending.

If elected I plan to use my background as a small businessman, and township supervisor, in order to make good on my promises to uphold our values, and making sure our children can stay here and to keep expanding on my record of balancing the preservation of 125 acres of open space with the need for smart growth.
