Toni Gilhooley is the Republican candidate for United States Congress in Pennsylvania's 17th District. Toni has a distinguished career marked by hard work, dedication and accomplishment. Born in Steelton, Antoinette D'Agostino + known to her friends as "Toni" + was raised in a working-class family that valued hard work, perseverance and courage. These traits have been the hallmarks of Toni's career. For 25 years, Toni served the citizens of Pennsylvania as a State Trooper. She was a pioneer for women in the Pennsylvania State Police.

· Toni was a cadet in only the second class of women to enter the State Police Academy and is among the first 20 women to become State Troopers.

· Her determination and hard work won her the distinction of being the first female staff instructor at the State Police Academy.

During her career, Toni received numerous commendations and awards and was honored by the PA Coalition Against Domestic Violence for her work with victims of abuse. Toni's care and dedication to her fellow officers led her to serve as a Volunteer Peer Contact, assisting State Police with various personal crises. Toni continues to serve as a Peer Support Officer working with municipal police departments in central PA and around the state. She has also served as a Victim Advocate. Toni also serves on Dauphin County's Domestic Violence Task Force. Following her retirement from the State Police, Toni continued to serve her fellow citizens in a variety of capacities. In October 2002, Governor Mark Schweiker appointed Toni to serve on the PA Human Relations Commission where she served as a Commissioner and Assistant Secretary. As a nationally certified Employee Assistance Professional, Toni regularly provided counseling and assistance to both public and private sector employers.

She has been involved in a wide variety of business organizations including the Central PA Association of Female Executives, PA Association of Retired State Employees, and the Business and Professional Women of Pennsylvania where she served as the State Legislation Chair. Toni has actively supported the Republican Party. She serves as President of the Dauphin County Council of Republican Women. She is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the PA State Troopers Retirees Association, and the National Rifle Association.

Toni is married to William M. Gilhooley, a retired State Police Lieutenant, and she is the proud grandmother of twin girls. Toni resides in Lower Paxton Township.
