Congressman Jason Altmire represents Pennsylvania's Fourth Congressional District, which includes all or parts of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Mercer and Westmoreland Counties.

In Congress, Jason has delivered on issues important to western Pennsylvania's veterans, seniors, and hard-working families. He has been recognized as one of the most centrist, politically moderate members of the U.S. House of Representatives by both National Journal and Congressional Quarterly, two highly-respected non-partisan publications.

Jason has been a leading advocate for our nation's veterans, voting several times for this country's largest increases in veterans' health care funding to fix sub-standard care at military and VA facilities across the country. In his short time in Congress, Jason has already seen six of his legislative initiatives dealing with veterans and military families become law. These include bills to improve the screening and treatment of traumatic brain injuries (TBI); expand the Family and Medical Leave Act to cover the families of military guard and reserve personnel; and expand small business opportunities for veterans and guard and reservists. Jason also introduced legislation, which is now law, that ensures combat-wounded warriors are able to keep their enlistment bonuses. These are just a few of the 16 bills or amendments that Jason has authored during his first term in Congress that have already been signed into law.

Jason has followed through on his pledge to work for Pennsylvania's seniors. Among the first bills Jason authored was legislation to provide relief to millions of Medicare beneficiaries by repealing the late enrollment penalty for Medicare prescription drug coverage. In July, this bill became law as part of a larger Medicare bill that will protect western Pennsylvania seniors' access to the Medicare plans and doctors of their choice.

Jason has also delivered on his vow to help spur economic development for the families of western Pennsylvania. He is a leader in Congress against unfair trade agreements and the illegal trade policies of competitors like China. He will continue to fight against practices that ship American jobs overseas.

Jason is a leader in the fight against illegal immigration, and has also authored legislation that would require foreign call-center workers to identify to American consumers where they are located.

Jason serves on the Education and Labor Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He also serves as Chairman of the Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee of the House Small Business Committee.

Jason currently lives in Wexford, Allegheny County, with his wife, Kelly, and their two daughters.
