? 1. What are the two most pressing issues you will face if you are elected? (50 word limit)

Answer from Steve Driehaus:

The foreclosure crisis and the worsening economy are two key issues facing voters in the first Congressional District. High gas prices, inability to access affordable quality health care and job insecurity create an economic condition that is challenging families and communities.

Answer from Rich Stevenson:

We need to switch from our Petroleum based economy to a Green Industries based Economy.

We need to negotiate to get to "yes" with the entire family of nations to establish peace and cooperation in the world. Diplomacy is the art of the possible with friends and foes.

Answer from Steve Chabot:

One, passing a comprehensive energy plan will lower gas prices, improve our energy independence and enhance our national security.

Two, promoting pro-growth fiscal policies will be critical for already-strained family budgets and for businesses' ability to create new jobs.

? 2. How will you address each of those issues? (100 word limit)

Answer from Steve Driehaus:

I will work to reduce dependency on foreign oil and making new technology a priority. We need to invest in education and higher education. I will work on a health care plan that provides quality universal health care. We need to take a comprehensive approach to the housing and foreclosure crisis by ensuring access to mortgage credit and shifting the risk that occurs in the housing market.

Answer from Rich Stevenson:

I will support legislation that supports the entrepeneurial growth of renewable energy sources and all of the support indutries that will grow our economy in a sustainable new direction.

I will use my vote to take away giveaway supports to the fossil fuel industries that leave us dependent on imported energy sources that increase the globing warming crisis.

Support of domestic Green industries will give us a negotiating stance to assert our independence and apply pressure for beter trade deals with all of our trading partners throughout the world.

Answer from Steve Chabot:

The U.S. must pursue a comprehensive energy plan that includes expanded domestic drilling as well as investment in renewable energy like wind and solar power. Until we gain greater energy independence, our economy will be unduly influenced by third world dictators in OPEC.

Pro-growth fiscal policies include keeping taxes low, reducing wasteful spending in government, and opening international markets for American products. Making the tax cuts permanent is a pivotal first step for families struggling to make ends meet as it is and for small businesses we depend on to create 70 percent of our new jobs. supports
