What specific policies have I pursued and will continue to pursue to address the concerns of residents regarding the current econnomic crisis?

I believe that in the present economic climate town government has no alternative but to "do more with less".

The following are policies I am currently pursuing to address the concerns of our citizens:

1. As technology advances, we must look for ways to do more with fewer employees. Skyrocketing pension contributions and health insurance premiums dictate this requirement.

2. I am working with the Supervisor and Board Liaison to the Highway Department to restructure the sanitation division by improving garbage and recycle pick-up in a manner which is more efficient while at the same time freeing up man hour shifts to be utilized in the highway division. This restructure will result in consist weekly pick-up without loosing re-cycle pick-up due to holidays, utilization of less equipment (thereby saving on fuel cost and equipment maintenance) and significantly reduce the need for a seasonal work force.
3. I am working closely with all department heads in reviewing their respective budgets and insisting on new ways of looking at old problems.

4. I also believe that we've only scratched the surface in finding innovative ways in which the town can reduce its energy consumption and make more efficient use of the vehicles required to keep our streets safe, clean and well-protected.

5. I have been working very closely with NYPA (New York Power Authority) in conducting extensive energy audits of all municipal building to identify energy saving opportunities and to reduce waste and improve efficiencies which will ultimately result in tax savings.

6. I also initiated the audit of all utility bills of the Town to identify overpayments and overcharges for which we would be entitled to refunds. The audit should also result in a reduction of our bills going forward and insure that we are being properly charged by the utility companies and that the town is receiving our fair and accurate share of franchise fees.

7. I will use my life's experiences and abilities to identify untapped sources of revenue in an effort to reduce taxes. I am currently looking into increasing parking meter revenue and drafting of an alarm nuisance law which would impose fines for false alarms.

8. I will look to increase shared services and joint purchases with the school district and villages in an effort to save tax dollars.

9. I will actively research, identify and apply for grant monies to help fund projects which will improve our quality of life and keep our town affordable.
