Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Michael "Mike" Niemeyer

Candidate for
State Representative; District 15

This information is provided by the candidate

The Missouri State motto is "The welfare of the people shall be the supreme law." That is a good summation for what government is supposed to do. Where things are working, keep an open eye to make sure they're working well without ignoring coming problems. Where things are not working, but ready and capable to step in so they do.

The three issues I plan to focus on are areas where things are not working.

  • Nearly 1 in 6 Missourians have no health insurance. They can't go to a doctor, they can only go to an emergency room that charges an arm and a leg.
  • Missouri schools are in trouble. Class sizes have increased and funding gone down. It doesn't matter how good the teachers are at that point, they can't keep up and can't keep the students from falling through the cracks.
  • Our roads are overcrowded and we're burning though ever more expensive gas sitting in traffic. We need options to get away from that problem.

Foreclosures are up. Gas prices are up. Our retirement funds are disappearing. We need to keep things that are working, working, and fix ones that are broken. That is why I'm running.
