Board Member; San Francisco Community College District

Chris Jackson has worked for students and working families in San Francisco for nearly a decade, advocating and providing for access to higher education.

Chris is a third generation San Franciscan and currently works as a policy analyst for the San Francisco Labor Council, ensuring social and economic justice in the workplace.

Chris graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Speech Communication. In his senior year, Chris was elected President of SFSU's Associated Students.

After graduation, Chris worked as a Fellow in the office of Assembly Member De Leon. He primarily worked on Higher Education, Budget and Human Services policy.

As a leader at San Francisco State, Chris created a full time recruitment and retention center, Project Connect. Project Connect provides many K-12 students with their first contact with college. The program awards $28,000 of scholarships annually and it has helped over 8,000 students attend college.

Also while attending San Francisco State, Chris established a sustainable book loan program, new financial aid workshops, and an internship program.

As an officer of the San Francisco Youth Commission, Chris pushed for greater focus on youth employment and youth violence prevention. Chris helped organization rallies in front of City Hall to demand more resources and programming to fight violence in our community. As the Legislative Affairs Officer for the Youth Commission, Chris worked with the Board of Supervisors to expand youth services on the West-Side of San Francisco and to expand the Mayor's Youth Employment and Education Program (MYEEP).

As a board member of Young Workers United, Chris helped pass the City's Minimum Wage Ordinance. He also helped draft the City's Paid Sick Day Leave Act.

Chris lives in the Mission District of San Francisco.
