Small Business Innovator

By David Chiu

Candidate for Board of Supervisors; San Francisco County; District 3

This information is provided by the candidate
As a neighbor who has founded a small business that operates in District 3, I'm someone who knows firsthand the challenges of creating jobs in San Francisco, and as Small Business Commissioner has fought to remove the barriers that our city government places on economic development.
There are currently 15 departments that regulate the private sector in various ways. As a Small Business Commissioner, I drafted language that became law in Proposition I, introduced by Mayor Newsom in 2007, requiring each city department to report how it regulates business. As Supervisor, I would work to consolidate the number of departments that regulate business and eliminate bureaucratic red tape.
