Who She Is

Mitz Lee elected to the School Board in 2004 - won 94% of precincts citywide.

Mitz Lee served two years - Vice President of the Board of Education.

Mitz Lee represents San Diego City Schools at California School Board Association (CSBA.

Mitz Lee completed CSBA's Master in Governance.

Mitz Lee organized parent volunteers for classrooms, served on school councils, governance teams, charter school Board and PTA.

Mitz Lee, married 25 years, two sons in college, former Cub Scout leader/Little League team mom.

Mitz Lee earned Master's Degree in Business Administration/Financial Management.

Promises Made - Promises Kept

  • Restored Board leadership in making policy. Held Superintendent accountable for implementing Board policies. Hired new Superintendent.
  • Eliminated fiscal fat. Prioritized district's $1 billion yearly budget to directly support classrooms. Insisted on balanced budget.
  • Reduced top-heavy school district administration.
  • Ensured all schools are safe and well-maintained. Continues major repair/ upgrading of schools.
  • Revived comprehensive academics to include art, music/electives. Restored and expanded vocational/career/technical education.
  • Stopped education fads. No social promotions.
  • Instituted phonics instruction in early grades. Ended fuzzy math/science.
