ED GALLO + BIO

Born and raised in New Jersey I moved to Escondido in June of 1973 mainly due to the uniqueness of the community and location but most of all because of the people. I began residency here continuing my occupation as a store manager for a major supermarket chain. I began working as a real estate professional in 1976 and have kept an active license now working as an independent contractor with Hanson Commercial Group. Currently I am also an Escondido City Councilmember.

I am a US Army veteran serving from 1964 and receiving an honorable discharge in 1967. Awards included Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Expert Rifleman Award. Tours of duty included Fort Bragg, NC, I Corps Headquarters, Camp Red Cloud, South Korea and Fort Bliss, Texas. While in Korea I was a member of the Bullseye Masquers amateur theater group doing productions presented at various military bases in South Korea.

I attended Rutgers University-Supermarket Management, North Carolina State University and Texas Western College (now University of Texas El Paso) and completed an accredited computer class at Palomar College.

My three children all attended Escondido schools and I am the proud grampa of four beautiful granddaughters.

I am a past President of the Escondido Jaycees and am the only member to ever be awarded the US Jaycees highest award of Jaycee Ambassador. Current memberships include Escondido Rotary Club, JB Clark Post 149 American Legion, NSDCAR Commercial Division. Off time interests include golf, fitness to include swimming, snow skiing and mountain biking breaking my collar bone in 1999.
