My Top Priorities, if elected, are:

  • Provide an enriched, balanced and challenging curriculum, including programs to develop critical thinking, communication and 21st century skills.

  • Maintain fiscal responsibility, with focus on aligning budgets with district priorities.

  • Maintain safe and nurturing educational environment.

  • Promote open communication among parents, educators and board members.

  • Maximize available resources via collaboration among schools, businesses and community.

The cornerstones of my political philosophy are to treat people with respect, maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders, and commit the time necessary to ensure educated and informed decisions. Particularly in the context of a School Board, where the ability to make decisions resides not with any individual Board member but with the Board as a whole, I believe it is important that a variety of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives be represented. It is that diversity, along with a culture of mutual trust and respect, that makes the whole stronger than the sum of its parts.

As a parent, volunteer, community leader and school board trustee, I have had the pleasure of working with many dedicated volunteers, staff members and administrators to support the continual improvement of the Cambrian schools. Serving in a number of different roles within the school community has given me unique insights into the district's programs and community needs.
