  • Managed 7 software engineers in the development of real-time embedded firmware, Web user interface, and high-level API for Agilent's Photonic Switching Platform. Code size is 130K lines.
  • Completed delivery of 15 firmware and 10 API releases in 19-month period. Managed software features and project schedules with focus on customer needs and product deliverables. Produced engineering releases for optical module development, characterization, and reliability testing. Team contributed significant improvements to product performance, quality and maintainability.
  • Established software development processes in a start-up environment. Engaged cross-functional team members to conduct regression testing for new firmware/software releases.

4/98 to 9/00 Pharmaceutical Solutions Business Unit, Agilent Technologies, Palo Alto, CA R&D Software Project Manager
  • Managed 4 software engineers for the development and maintenance of application software for Agilent's Liquid Phase Mass Spectrometer. Windows software application is 3.4M+ lines (C, C++, and macro code) supported across 3 development locations. Software includes data acquisition, instrument control, and data analysis.
  • Lead 3-site team (Palo Alto, California; Little Falls, Delaware; and Waldbronn, Germany) of cross-functional members (R&D, marketing, operations, and quality) which managed the product life cycle for the legacy software including negotiating schedules and resources, and providing weekly project updates via teleconferences.
  • Managed alliance projects to integrate hardware and software products from other instrument manufacturers.
  • Completed 2 major releases and 4 maintenance releases. Improved project planning and tracking. Bolstered team bandwidth with outsourcing. Significantly improved team morale.

8/95 to 4/98 Integrated Systems Division, Hewlett-Packard Company, Sunnyvale, CA R&D Project Manager
  • Managed 19 software engineers for the development of an automotive diagnostic system for Volvo Cars Corporation. Software application is 400K+ lines (C and C++ code, Windows 3.11) ported to Windows NT 4.0. Software supports Unicode double-byte languages. Team members located in Sunnyvale, Detroit (MI), and Sweden.
  • Managed 2 software contracting firms for support of value-added expertise in internationalization and common core legacy software.
  • Responsible for bidding and winning $3M NRE contracts for FY96 and FY97. Managed direct customer interaction: quoting ECRs (engineering change requests), negotiating schedules and resources.
  • Lead sales strategy for new Volvo business. Hired and coached pre-sales technical lead (former PSO). Won contract for web-based application serving as Volvo's key step into Internet data distribution and e-commerce.
  • Virtual program manger for the Volvo cross-functional team, co-leading weekly business team meetings, coordinating manufacturing, technical support, and R&D resources to deliver diagnostic test systems (hardware, software, field support, etc.).

8/92 to 8/95 Integrated Circuits Business Division, Hewlett-Packard Company, Cupertino, CA R&D Project Manager
  • Managed 7 ASIC logic and physical designers for all chips developed at the California Design Center. Placed, routed, verified artwork, and generated masks for 30 chips a year.

3/87 to 8/92 Integrated Circuits Business Division, Hewlett-Packard Company IC Sales Manager and Account Manager
  • Managed a team of 7 sales and application engineers selling ASIC solutions to HP Computer Peripherals Organization (CPO). Met revenue quota of $250M for CPO. Negotiated high volume part prices with printer divisions. Developed sales and marketing plans for PC and European markets.
  • Executed ASIC sales to internal HP divisions in the Peripherals, Personal Computer Group, and Computer Systems Group. Provided solutions and won business for standard cells and custom IC needs. Met quotas of $2.9M ASIC orders, $500K NRE and $1.6M new design revenue.
