Smart Voter Full Biography for Mark Good

Candidate for
Board Member; Gilroy Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Mark Good has lived his entire adult life in South Santa Clara County, graduating from Live Oak High School, Gavilan College, San Jose State and Santa Clara University School of Law. Mark served for twenty years in local law enforcement. During his time with the Gilroy Police Department (17+ years) he supervised patrol, investigations, police reserves, and the tactical team, retiring in 1997 as a Sergeant.

All of Mark's four children have attended Gilroy Unified Schools; his youngest daughter, Emily, graduated from Gilroy High School this year. Mark and his wife Pat have been active for several years in school events involving their children. Mark has previously served as Vice President of South County Alternatives (now Community Solutions), as Chairman of the City of Gilroy Deferred Compensation Committee, and as a member of the Gilroy Unified School District Board from 1996-2000.

Mark is currently an attorney at Terra Law LLP, specializing in intellectual property, real estate and business litigation. He believes that he can use his experience to help the School District make better decisions, especially with regards to contract issues (including the building of Christopher High School). Mark is also committed to decreasing the dropout rate, increasing vocational opportunities available to high school students, and reinstating the full music education and arts programs in our elementary and middle schools.

Mark views problems and issues with a common sense fashion and is action oriented. Mark is the logical choice this November for Strong, No-Nonsense, Action-Oriented leadership on our School Board.
